President/Director
Les Pike
Voted again this year as President, Les Pike, and his wife Gill along with a group of dedicated volunteers, resurrected the Society after a hiatus over 20 years ago. Thanks to Les and Gill, and their vision, the Society has continued its legacy to this present day.
Chairman/Director
Steve Denness
Steve was voted in as Chair at the Extraordinary Meeting we called in March of 2024. Rotherfield born and bred, he is passionate about supporting the village and wider community. Steve is also the person who organises the heritage bus running for event and is a keen vintage horticultural garden machinery collector! Steve says: “thanks to everyone for their support, I am immensely proud of being a part of such an amazing team of volunteers and to be Chairman of our village Society”.

Vice Chair/Membership Secretary
Joanna Privett
​Joanna moved to Rotherfield in 2023 and has thrown herself into village life. Membership Manager by day, she's put her professional skills to use by volunteering as Membership Secretary, and was voted in at the AGM as Vice Chair. Passionate about maintaining our heritage and village tradition Joanna says; "Bonfire and carnival is an amazing opportunity to get the community together, I've been made to feel so welcome in Rotherfield it's a pleasure to be able to give something back".

Company & General Secretary
Wendy Scrace
Wendy was born and raised in Rotherfield, and has been involved with the Carnivals for over fifty years, having carried out various roles including Director, Chairman and Secretary over the years.

Vice President
John Waters
John is well known in Rotherfield and Mark Cross. He is a great source of bonfire knowledge and history. Digging deep often into his own pocket, he has been instrumental in keeping the torch making going and provides amazing support to the wider team.
Events Lead
Iona Baily
Iona is a champion for the village and leader of the RSM which provides the community with help and support and clubs for older people. When it comes to Bonfire, Iona loves the procession walks and has brought her events management skills to the team to help support our fundraising events throughout the year.

Health & Safety Officer
Charlotte Brooker
Charlotte is a Health and Safety professional by day, so there really isn't anyone better qualified to do the job she does for the Society as well. Ensuring thorough risk assessments are carried out for all our events and the Carnival, we are very grateful for the time and dedication Charlotte continues to give to such a pivotal role.
Assistant Health & Safety Officer/IT administrator/head of web design
Adam Denness
Adam is very passionate about the Bonfire Society. He and his family have been involved for many years. By day, Adam is a heritage railway engineer and absolutely loves the history. Adam says “I am very much looking forward to continuing my role on the leadership team as IT Administrator and website Designer, and I enjoy using my skillsets in technology to support the Society”.

Kirstin is our dedicated Finance Officer, and general superstar! Finance management is a key role, and she's stepped up to take on this big responsibility, hats off to Kirstin!

Jaime is our excellent fund raising officer who owns his own company and is a very respected person in the village

Elleanor is a very respected farmer in the village
and is our chief editor of our programme and is also our chief marshal.
